Fires Over L.A.

The fires that continue to blaze through the Los Angeles, California National Forest have not only consumed some 219 square miles of forest and over 21 million USD, it has now tragically taken the lives of two fire fighters battling to stop its spread southeast. Six further people have also been injured by the inferno.

Cash for Clunkers

A fortnight ago, the States introduced a new vehicle trade-in scheme in a bid to boost new car sales and help kick start the economy. To date, some 316,189 vehicles with a value of $1,326m have been traded in with a report stating that more and more Americans are turning their backs on gas guzzlers and SUVs; SUVs and pickup trucks accounting for 83% if trade-ins.
